If you've ever owned a beautiful wooden cutting board, you know the routine. Hand wash only. Dry immediately. Oil it every few weeks. Store it flat. Don't let it near the sink too long.
We decided that was too much to ask. Every single Quinlan Treasures cutting board — Small, Medium, and Large — goes straight into the dishwasher. Hot water, full cycle, every time. It comes out looking exactly like it went in.
A Note from Linda
"I used to have a gorgeous wooden board that I was terrified to get wet. It sat on my counter looking pretty but I barely used it because cleanup was such a production. When I found these boards, the first thing I did was put one in the dishwasher just to see. It came out perfect. That was it — I was sold."
— Linda Quinlan, Quinlan Treasures
Traditional wooden cutting boards are made of natural wood fibers that absorb water. When exposed to the heat and prolonged moisture of a dishwasher cycle, those fibers swell, then dry unevenly — causing warping, cracking, and splitting. Over time, those cracks become hiding spots for bacteria, which is the last thing you want on a surface where you're preparing food.
That's why every wooden board comes with the same warning: hand wash only. It's not a preference — it's a requirement to keep the board from falling apart.
Quinlan Treasures boards are made from premium pinewood fibers that have been compressed under high pressure and bound with a food-grade resin. This process creates a dense, non-porous surface that simply doesn't absorb water the way natural wood does.
There are no open grain lines for water to seep into. No natural oils to wash away. No fibers to swell and separate. The board that goes into your dishwasher is the same board that comes out — cycle after cycle, year after year.
